Market comment Spring 2024           "Prices rising?"

Activity has already returned despite the rain! A very wet start to the season has not dampened the enthusiasm of house hunters. Agents are reporting more buyers on their books than this time last year, which is not surprising given that borrowing rates are falling and are anticipated to fall further throughout the year. UK average house prices are now only 3% below the all-time highs of summer 2022.

Will prices rise this year? Well, they are unlikely to fall so given the evidence of the number of buyers already in the market and a level of activity not seen for a while, I believe there is only one way for prices to go. It will be a year for proceedable buyers to try and secure a purchase as values will inevitably be higher in 2025. It is in competitive market conditions such as this that the services of a search agent are invaluable.
